Laos 2011: Spreading vital knowledge – through an illustrative book
The concept with the social entrepreneurship project of 2011 was to gather and spread solutions to everyday problems around the world. These solutions were spread through informative and pedagogical illustrations, hence independent of language or level of illiteracy of the receiver and thereby contributing to an expanding society where everyone is included. The packaged information was spread locally in Laos.
Knowel created an illustrative book about how to prevent accidents caused by insufficient safety provisions within the technological field, as safety development often lagged behind the rapid movement of innovation. Accidents were particularly common in the development of the electricity grid and the use of pesticides. Additional knowledge about basic sanitation was also illustrated. This book was implemented in 17 villages in rural Savannakhet during October 2011.
The book project was carried out by Knowel’s founding team, graduating class of 2012 from Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship.
